Jensen Baird Gardner & Henry congratulates Charles Hildreth and his family on the sale of its ownership interest in The Emery-Waterhouse Company, a wholesale distributor to hardware stores and lumber yards throughout the Northeast, based in Portland. The Emery-Waterhouse Company was founded in 1842 and has been owned by the Hildreth family for the past 80 years. Ownership of the Company has been acquired by an affiliate of Ace Hardware Corporation, which anticipates operating the company as an independent subsidiary with its existing management team and workforce. Michael Quinlan, who heads the firm’s Business Services Practice Group, and Ken Cole, from the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group, served as the lead attorneys for this transaction on behalf of the sellers.
