Legal Assistant/Paralegal

Jensen Baird is hiring a full-time Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join and grow their dynamic team based in downtown Portland, Maine!  Jensen Baird Gardner & Henry, founded in 1952, is a medium-sized law firm offering legal expertise in areas including business services, litigation, real estate, and local government.

What will you do as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal for Jensen BairdYou will provide administrative assistance for attorneys such as maintaining calendars, keeping track of filing deadlines, as well as drafting and proofreading correspondence, motions and pleadings for Court filings.  You will also communicate with clients and witnesses and manage client billing as the Legal Assistant/Paralegal

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access
  • Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and a problem solver
  • Time management and ability to multi-task
  • High school diploma or GED required; degree or certificate in paralegal studies preferred
  • 1 -3 years of litigation experience preferred, but if you are a motivated self-starter, we would like to talk to you!
