Rebecca D. Shiland

Rebecca Shiland is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Condominium and Homeowners Association practice groups.  For over fifteen years, Rebecca’s practice focused on representation of condominium and homeowner associations.  As part of her condominium and homeowner association practice, she provides counsel and advice to clients regarding a wide range of legal issues, including corporate governance, covenant enforcement and assessment delinquencies, drafting of rules and regulations, contract review and negotiation, drafting amendments to governing documents, representation of developers in creation of new condominium and homeowners association developments, reviewing and negotiating loan documents, and compliance with the Fair Housing Act.  Rebecca also enjoys assisting Boards of Directors with parliamentary procedure for annual and special meetings and teaching classes for Board members and property managers on various community association topics.  In addition to practicing community association law, Rebecca counsels clients on general real estate matters and reviews and drafts real estate documents such as easements, leases, licenses, deeds and sales documents.

Before joining Jensen Baird, Rebecca was a partner in a community association law firm in Atlanta, Georgia where she taught many courses educating association board members and property managers for both her firm and the Georgia Chapter of the Community Association Institute.  As a law student, Rebecca served as an editor of the University of Alabama Law Review. 

Rebecca lives in Portland with her husband, dog, and cat, and enjoys running, traveling, hiking, and exploring Maine.
