Kyle J. Flaherty

As a member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group, Kyle focuses his practice in the areas of commercial real estate and business law. Kyle has considerable experience representing lenders, buyers, and sellers in all stages of commercial real estate transactions, from initial negotiations to the closing table. He also frequently represents commercial landlords and tenants in negotiating commercial leases. A sizeable portion of Kyle’s practice is devoted to representing lenders and borrowers in complex commercial financing transactions. Kyle and the firm serve as General Counsel for the Maine Health and Higher Educational Facilities Authority, an instrumentality of the State of Maine, which facilitates financing for qualifying projects of eligible borrowers (certain licensed health care facilities, nonprofit higher education institutions, and nonprofit private academies, among others) through the issuance of tax-exempt bonds.

Kyle is skilled at drafting purchase and sale agreements and real estate financing documents, drafting and negotiating commercial leases, and handling complex title issues on commercial properties. Finally, Kyle has experience forming business entities and drafting related business contracts and agreements. Clients appreciate his approachable demeanor, attention to detail, and responsiveness through often complex and time-sensitive transactions.

Kyle graduated cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law. Prior to law school, Kyle graduated from Bates College. While at Bates, he was a member of the varsity football team for all four years. In his senior year, he was named a team captain by his fellow teammates and coaches.

Kyle is a Maine native and grew up in the small town of Litchfield, Maine. He currently lives in Brunswick, Maine with his wife and daughter. In his free time, he enjoys snowboarding, hiking, watching Boston sports, going to concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
